with its Annual Nautical Exposition

The Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy (UDEC) in collaboration with CHE Nautical & Enviro Edutainment presents a unique and spectacular nautical exhibitions featuring a state of the art living history display that encompasses, reenactor (s), with an impressive collection of artifacts, accessories, historic naval armament, costumes, promising an enriching, entertaining, and interactive cultural & educational experience.

An excellent public education medium for environmental learning, history, art appreciation, and cultural enrichment, presented in a museum-like exposition that helps to recapture the living history of the Afro-American seafarer, celebrating the accomplishment and contributions of historic Afro- American maritime figures in celebration of Black History Month.

The traveling Nautical Exhibition will be on view at several locations through out NY Harbor ( downstream and upstream of the salt belt of the urban estuary in the "B" connection Boroughs, including the Brooklyn Historical Society and One Cadman Plaza at The National Grid 2nd Floor Gallery

and is available to travel to your school, or other institution.

The program is part of UDEC's Annual School Year Holiday Cultural Program Series.

Learning Programs Bring?

We now know that the learning process favors experimentation, representation, inquiry, exploration and discovery. Students learn and retain more from a live experience and will keep wonderful memories for a long time to come. Many institutions have had to adapt their educational strategies to experiential learning. Taking note of the lean towards these educational strategies, UDEC brings over a decade of experience in providing high quality and innovative public engagement programs; a product completely settled in this tradition of learning.

The presentations would:

Increase knowledge, understanding and appreciation for the significance of the natural resources
Raise awareness about social, cultural and geopolitical attitudes that influence management, distribution and trade of the natural resources
Bring awareness to the accomplishments and contributions of the culturally diverse in historical context
Provide empowerment for greater stakeholder capacity and stewardship

Greetings!... UDEC EnviroMedia Mobile will kick off its Spring/Summer Earthfest 2010 with Earth Day Celebrations, beginning on Earth Day weekends. Join us for this fantastic urban trekkers tours exploring various and diverse communities through out NY Harbor. A wonderful and unique event for your weekend family fun outdoors adventure in waterfront recreation, environmental education , nature appreciation, community stewardship, culture and maritime. These environmental awareness, culture and maritime cultural enrichment events are held in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx & Queens.

... A BIT OF HISTORY
The program is a project of The Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy ( UDEC) www.urbandivers.org. A Not for Profit environmental and cultural organization based in NYC. For now going on 11yrs UDEC continues to stride to provide quality and innovative public engagement programs in environmental literacy, youth development, community stewardship, conservation support, & maritime cultural enrichment.

... OPPORTUNITIES
The EnviroMedia Mobile travels to schools, afterschool programs, or community centers. Groups can also travel to its waterfront classroom in Red Hook , Brooklyn. Other institutions can book The EnviroMedia Mobile as an attraction and alternative tool for fun experiential learning and recreation at their respective events.

This spectacular state of the art mobile NATURE and MARITIME museum also host frequent programs at IKEA/Erie Basin Park. A wonderful waterfront park on the historic Erie Basin. Its waterfront esplanade boast a fantastic scenic vista of the working waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Stay tuned for another monthly Spring/Summer series of outdoor adventures, environmental literacy and maritime cultural enrichment at IKEA/Erie Basin Park.

...UNIVERSAL
Their events are quite international, and richly multicultural; one of a few places where various languages are spoken. Among its crew you will find English, Japanese, Mandarin, Wollof, Polish, Russian, French, Haitian Creole, Farsi, Punjab, Arabic, Swedish, Dutch language speakers... to name a few. As in the spirit of historic seafarers and as in the nature of our environment, there are no borders. By acting locally and thinking globally, the organization and its events, being a refreshing perspective about the environment and culture. Everyone who attends, regardless of native language, can have something to say and share. The Waterfront esplanade is accessible by NYC TAXI Ferry, Free IKEA BUSE, the B77, and B61.

Exhibit tours of the mobile Nature and Maritime on wheels- highlights include a) The Lenape Dug Out Canoe of The Henry Hudson Era b) Honoring Legendary Diver, the Man of Honor, Carl Brashear c) Celebrating the "ONRUST"- Artifacts of the first Dutch Ship to have sailed Brooklyn Harbor- a project in collaboration with the ONRUST PROJECT d) AMA- an exhibit about the Japanese Women Pearl Divers in collaboration with Mikimoto Pearl Island Museum, in Japan..and more

2. Community Boating- Guided Ecocruises in UDEC's 32ft Indian Shipping Canoe that accommodates 21 paddlers at a time.

3. Live! Beneath The Estuary- Live Underwater Video Exploration Station

4. Estuarine Ecology Lab and Touch Tank

5. Urban Wings Over Water- Birds of The Urban Wetlands presentation and demonstration. A fantastic and colorful birds of prey education and demonstration program.

UDEC offers a very exciting environmental and youth leadership opportunity through its URBAN MARINE EXPLORERS Program. Among various skills to be acquired, youth receive training to assist as mobile museum docents.
