ENVIROMEDIA MOBILE SPRING/SUMMER EARTH FEST 2010

Greetings!... UDEC EnviroMedia Mobile will kick off its Spring/Summer Earthfest 2010 with Earth Day Celebrations, beginning on Earth Day weekends. Join us for this fantastic urban trekkers tours exploring various and diverse communities through out NY Harbor. A wonderful and unique event for your weekend family fun outdoors adventure in waterfront recreation, environmental education , nature appreciation, community stewardship, culture and maritime. These environmental awareness, culture and maritime cultural enrichment events are held in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx & Queens.

... A BIT OF HISTORY
The program is a project of The Urban Divers Estuary Conservancy ( UDEC) www.urbandivers.org. A Not for Profit environmental and cultural organization based in NYC. For now going on 11yrs UDEC continues to stride to provide quality and innovative public engagement programs in environmental literacy, youth development, community stewardship, conservation support, & maritime cultural enrichment.

... OPPORTUNITIES
The EnviroMedia Mobile travels to schools, afterschool programs, or community centers. Groups can also travel to its waterfront classroom in Red Hook , Brooklyn. Other institutions can book The EnviroMedia Mobile as an attraction and alternative tool for fun experiential learning and recreation at their respective events.

This spectacular state of the art mobile NATURE and MARITIME museum also host frequent programs at IKEA/Erie Basin Park. A wonderful waterfront park on the historic Erie Basin. Its waterfront esplanade boast a fantastic scenic vista of the working waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Stay tuned for another monthly Spring/Summer series of outdoor adventures, environmental literacy and maritime cultural enrichment at IKEA/Erie Basin Park.


...UNIVERSAL
Their events are quite international, and richly multicultural; one of a few places where various languages are spoken. Among its crew you will find English, Japanese, Mandarin, Wollof, Polish, Russian, French, Haitian Creole, Farsi, Punjab, Arabic, Swedish, Dutch language speakers... to name a few. As in the spirit of historic seafarers and as in the nature of our environment, there are no borders. By acting locally and thinking globally, the organization and its events, being a refreshing perspective about the environment and culture. Everyone who attends, regardless of native language, can have something to say and share. The Waterfront esplanade is accessible by NYC TAXI Ferry, Free IKEA BUSE, the B77, and B61.

1. Exhibit tours of the mobile Nature and Maritime on wheels- highlights include a) The Lenape Dug Out Canoe of The Henry Hudson Era b) Honoring Legendary Diver, the Man of Honor, Carl Brashear c) Celebrating the "ONRUST"- Artifacts of the first Dutch Ship to have sailed Brooklyn Harbor- a project in collaboration with the ONRUST PROJECT d) AMA- an exhibit about the Japanese Women Pearl Divers in collaboration with Mikimoto Pearl Island Museum, in Japan..and more


2. Community Boating- Guided Ecocruises in UDEC's 32ft Indian Shipping Canoe that accommodates 21 paddlers at a time.






3. Live! Beneath The Estuary- Live Underwater Video Exploration Station







4. Estuarine Ecology Lab and Touch Tank





5. Urban Wings Over Water- Birds of The Urban Wetlands presentation and demonstration. A fantastic and colorful birds of prey education and demonstration program.



6. Kite Flight



7. Giant Floating Earth Ball- in commemoration of this year's 40th Anniversary Earth Day Celebrations ( at every event)



8. GoFiSH n Seine- Family Catch and Release Fishing






9. FREE MUSIC- "Open Piano On the Soap Box"

UDEC offers a very exciting environmental and youth leadership opportunity through its URBAN MARINE EXPLORERS Program. Among various skills to be acquired, youth receive training to assist as mobile museum docents.

VOLUNTEERING at UDEC' ENVIROMEDIA MOBILE community events means Doing Something Different, Learning Something New, Making a Difference, While Having Fun... Volunteer groups such as NY Cares, Japanese group Shine the Big Apple, Meet-Up Groups such NY State of Mind, help make a big difference in the lives of hundreds of families, and thousands of visitors who participate in the program each year.
